Corfu Island and Its Beautiful Landscape and Exotic Beaches

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Corfu Island is known around the world for its exceptionally beautiful landscape and exotic beaches. The island generally experiences warm summers with light sea breezes in the afternoon, which has contributed in the development of summer tourism. Many hotels and tourism facilities have been built around the beautiful beaches of Corfu and in fact many visitors choose their Corfu hotel to be close to such beaches to get benefit from the crystal water and the water sports. The most developed beach resorts of the island are found on the northern and central side, whereas the southern side has equally beautiful but more remote beaches.

The most famous and developed beach resort of Corfu is Paleokastritsa, which has a very charming atmosphere. This beach, about 30 km to the north west of Corfu town, is usually crowded and frequently connected by public means of transport. Many excursion boats leave from the small port of Paleokastritsa to close trips in sea caves and other surrounding remote beaches. Paleokastritsa beach is organized with umbrellas and sun beds, while many sports centers are found there, such as a diving centre that gives courses and rents diving equipment.

Agios Gordis is another popular beach of the island. It is sheltered by giant hills that are carpeted with green vegetation. As the green slopes reach out to the sea, they are transformed into a long golden sandy coast that comes into contrast to the clear blue waters of the sea. This beach is 20 km to the east of Corfu town, frequently connected to it by public means. Many water sport facilities are available there.

The long sandy beach of Agios Stefanos is also a very popular tourist destination. Situated 40 km to the northwest of the capital, this beach is ideal place for relaxing and spending some quality time with family and friends. The beach is crystal and safe, while fun water sports are also available. Some beach bars are also found along the beach as well as hotels and fish taverns.

Dassia beach also gets pretty crowded as it is only 20 minutes drive from Corfu town. Being awarded a Blue Flag for its cleanness, Dassia is also safe and shallow. The close village has all the facilities you may need on holidays plus a vivid nightlife. Gouvia, another popular resort, is also close to Dassia.

You can find many more beautiful beach resorts on Corfu, such as Benitses, Acharavi, Roda or Sidari, to name a few. All of them have tourism facilities and can easily accommodate your needs. For quieter coves, explore the island and you will find plenty of them, especially on the southern side, close to Ai Mathias village, where lush green meets the blue sea and creates an idyllic ambience.

Travel To Sardinia: How To Find The Best Travel Deals

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and is often the premier destination for Europe’s elite. Many celebrities such as Julia Roberts and Sting go to Sardinia for relaxation and seclusion. Travel to Sardinia is not difficult, as there are three international airports on the island. You can also travel to Sardinia by ferry or ship, as well.

Once you have arrived, you’ll need to make some choices concerning your transportation around the island. Many of the hotels offer shuttle service from the airports to the hotel. When you travel to Sardinia, make sure you inquire if this service is available. There are also car rentals available in every airport and in some of the towns.

You can get around Sardinia by train and bus, but not very quickly. It is definitely worth the money to rent a car. There are also many enchanting, remote areas to visit on the island and it could take you quite awhile to get there by commercial transportation means.

Unlike Italy, travel to Sardinia and on the island is not as dangerous as you might expect. Traffic moves much slower here due to the narrow, winding roads. These roads are quite often deserted, so when a driver meets another vehicle, it could be quite unexpected.

If you want to find the best deals on travel to Sardinia, here are some tips to help locate great savings:

1. Plan Your Vacation Ahead of Time: It is a well known fact that the farther in advance you plan your trip, the lower the cost. So pick your dates as soon as you are able to. Travel to Sardinia can be somewhat expensive if you wait to the last minute to book your airfare.

2. Buy a Vacation Package: Many of the online travel sites can give you great deals on travel to Sardinia when you book a complete package. You can include airfare and accommodations, as well as excursions for diving and sightseeing.

3. Call the Airlines Directly: Occasionally you can find a better deal when you call the airline than if you go through a travel website or agent. However, most of the travel sites and agencies reserve blocks of seats, which is how they get the best rates.

4. Travel Mid-Week: When you travel to Sardinia during the middle of the week, you could end up saving hundreds of dollars in airfare. Most of the cheapest airfare is available on Tuesday and Wednesday. While this is the best time to travel to Sardinia, they are also the best days to book your reservation.

5. Make Use of Those Travel Rewards: Why let your frequent flyer miles expire? Use them to grab up an airline ticket for free or to purchase a reduced companion fare. Many restrictions usually apply to these types of tickets, so be sure you read the fine print.

6. Check with Specialty Charters: Many charter services are available for Mediterranean destinations. If you are looking for deals at the last minutes, this may be your best bet. Most of the time, these charter companies have already purchased a block of tickets. If it is close to the departure date, you may be able to get a ticket at a really reduced rate. The charter companies would rather make a little money on a ticket than lose the fare altogether.

If you are considering the possibility of buying or renting property in Playa del Carmen, you should know that there are many different Playa del Carmen Real Estate web sites out there that allow you to view more than one property at a time. This is a great arrangement because it does not limit you to the properties that are listed by just one Real Estate agent or company, but instead allows you to see properties from all over Mexico . The way this works is that these Real Estate web sites have agreements with property owners in which they are paid a commission in the event that they find someone to rent or buy a Property in Playa del Carmen or anywhere else in Mexico . As with any type of industry, there are some agents in this industry who are really honest and good at what they do, and there are some agents who do not follow ethical business practices.

Try to get references of long serving and ethical real estate agents from your friends, colleagues, relatives and lawyers familiar with area. You should always keep in mind that this is not typically a problem when you are dealing with the hotel industry, because there are so many places that people are very familiar with, which forces agents to be more honest. However, this type of familiarity does not exist in the vacation home rental or buying business because there are so many places out there for rent and for sale that they are owned by thousands of different people.
